Calculation of nitriding duration depending on temperature and nitriding case depth.
Graphic presentation of the nitriding case depth process over time.
The NCD calculation enables the treatment duration to be calculated as well as a trend chart of the compound layer (white layer) thickness and case hardness after nitriding.
A steel grade must be selected for the calculation of the treatment duration and the set values for temperature and depth be entered.
After the calculation, the NCD is graphically represented as a function of the nitriding duration with the selected operating point.
Overview of the functional characteristics:
• Calculation of nitriding duration as a function of the temperature and nitriding depth • Graphic presentation of NCD progression over the time • The prospective compound layer and depth of case as a trend

Functions:
1) Selection of steel grade ■ Nitriding steel data base with the most important nitriding steels
2) Input of set values ■ Temperature [°C/°F] ■ Nitriding Depth [mm] ■ Nitriding Potential
3) Display of calculation results ■ Nitriding duration ■ Compound layer [%] ■ Case hardness [%]
4) Graphical representation ■ Nitriding case depth [mm] ■ Nitriding duration [h] ■ Operating point
Function characteristics in the overview:
- Calculation of nitriding duration dependence on temperature and nitriding case depth
- Graphical representation of NCD process over time
- Expeced compound layer and case hardness in trend
